This should be required reading in all schools

While his constant reminders that he is a liberal and all conservatives are Neanderthals gets a little tiresome and comes across as more concerned about convincing his fellow progressives that he is still one of them and has not become a closet conservative, his presentation of the story of government mandated integration's failure along with how greed and fear more so than political persuasion have managed to stymie all good efforts of integration is well worth reading. He does an excellent job of showing how both whites and blacks feared integration and how the federal government's efforts to end racial bias as well intended as it was really managed to destroy communities and not significantly help the black community. This is an excellent read that is sure to help inspire all readers to think more about this important issue and hopefully look closer within their own communities for lingering signs of "hidden racism" and ask themselves how can they help move forward Dr. King's dream.
